City portal www.mannheim.de on a media-neutral basis
By switching from pure HTML to the media-neutral XML format for all editorial content, the City of Mannheim took a step towards future-proof eGovernment systems. Thanks to the separation of layout and content, all information is suitable for reuse in other IT systems, right up to preparation for print media and wireless devices.
inxire is used for the entire portal - from the editorial system to the web server. The mature technology combined with intuitive usability was the decisive factor; the SAGA standard for e-government is also implemented.
Thanks to the convenient WYSIWYG XML editor, all content could be entered by the customer independently. The layout was implemented pixel-precise and browser-neutral according to a graphic style guide. All content is available in XML - a considerable increase in the value of the now media-neutral data base.
