2,738 gold-plated copper shingles and the legend of Friedrich with the Empty Pockets have made the Innsbruck "Goldene Dachl" [Golden Roof] known worldwide. According to the legend, the Duke had his residence in Innsbruck roofed with gold-plated copper plates to shame the sneering nobles. Today, 500 years later, this magnificent late gothic gazebo and landmark of the city decorates Innsbruck's Homepage. Since 2000, the State Capital has had its own Website which has now been completely revised together with the Oracle Certified Partner inxire GmbH on the basis of the inxire® iO Smart ECM Suite.  Easy use based on a uniform layout, sophisticated search systems, customer friendly service, comprehensive information and excellent performance make the system attractive for all citizens. Since this time, the city has counted over 80,000 visitors per month: That is over 2,000 visits a day for nearly 1000 XML articles, 1,800 PDF documents, 1,000 drawings and innumerous photographs. Residents, newcomers, tourists, businessmen, professionals and insured persons search for concrete information on this electronic visiting card of the city, download forms to their PC, look through the city map online or use the virtual City Hall directory. The latter indicates which office is located where and when it is open. The special feature in the inxire Content Management solution is that all 90 city offices can create and update their Website themselves with a minimum of effort. All contents are in XML format and can be uploaded with time control. This ensures that all information can also be processed in other output formats, such as PDF files, print media or mobile terminals. Moreover, the new Homepage provides the basis for conversion to eGovernment. A project which the State Capital is pursuing with giant steps and has found an extremely suitable partner with inxire. Electronic city portal Since August 2004, the new Homepage has been available for citizens of the City of Innsbruck. "Today, we have ten times as many visitors to our Homepage than at our most intensively visited office, the Registry Office" stated Organization Director Herbert Kronlechner regarding the results of the relaunch. Complete editing system "The great advantage for us is that the offices are capable of creating and updating their own site by themselves without any help from outside", stated Markus Vogelsberger, Representative of the Office for Information and Organization of the City of Innsbruck. Where extensive knowledge of HTML was required previously to update a page, today the XML Editor from inxire® iO Smart ECM Suite makes it easier for the staff to process their contents themselves and flexibly design banners and illustrations. An hour of training is sufficient. The agreed design, which combines the highly varying information on all areas and places it in the Internet in an orderly fashion, provides for a uniform layout. Access is regulated by a versatile authorization system. The completely web-based system is simple to manage and control from anywhere. In contrast to previously, special clients are no longer required. Excellent search functions "We have completed updating our Homepage with optimum success", states Vogelsberger. The navigation feature is clearly structured. The most important areas, citizens' service, city map (a highlight of the Homepage), contact, impressum and site map (table of contents) are all located horizontal. Subjects with further details on the offices such as the lost & found, forms, community taxes, culture, sport and recreation, environment and administration right up to business are listed vertically. inxire® iO provides quick and precise help when searching for contents. Any type of metadata can be managed and offers, in interaction with the editing system, an excellent search index, saving users having to click endlessly through many pages. Previously, search operations were only possible using the navigation feature; today the site offers navigation, site map, keyword index as well as integrated central full text search of all contents. All search possibilities are matched to one another to find the desired contents quickly and reliably. Why inxire GmbH?
